Our Hubs

A distress signal from a distant planet, an underground research facility full of horrors and a biological entity that seems determined to get inside your head. That’s the welcoming committee awaiting Major Axel Vex in HELL OF FEAR: Mind Breach, a new survival horror adventure now available on Xbox Series X|S and PC for £14.24.

Published by GameDev.ist and developed by Abyss Assembly, this is a trip to the depths of a research base where the biggest threat might not be the creatures lurking in the shadows.

Welcome To Cengona Base

Major Axel Vex is a veteran of Extraterrestrial Incident Response, so investigating an emergency transmission from an isolated research facility should be familiar territory. Unfortunately, Cengona Base is anything but a routine assignment.

Located beneath the surface of a distant exoplanet, the facility has become a nightmare of hostile entities and unexplained biological activity. Players must work through 26 unique sectors, searching for supplies, uncovering secrets and piecing together what happened to the people who once worked there.

Recovered logs, security footage and the remains of the facility’s personnel provide clues to the unfolding disaster. The deeper Vex ventures, the more he discovers about the force responsible for turning the base into a death trap.

Keep The Lights On And Your Nerves Steady

HELL OF FEAR: Mind Breach combines psychological and biological horror with traditional survival mechanics. Ammunition and other resources need careful management, meaning charging into every encounter with guns blazing isn’t necessarily the smartest approach.

The creatures hunting through Cengona Base are particularly unsettling, with their behaviour influenced by light and movement. Staying hidden and avoiding detection can be just as important as knowing when to fight.

Environmental puzzles add another layer to the exploration, while the game’s dynamic horror system promises to react to player actions and decisions. An atmospheric soundscape also plays its part, helping build tension and potentially providing useful clues when danger is close.

A Mind-Bending Fight For Survival

With 26 sectors to explore, a mysterious biological infection to understand and plenty of hostile company, HELL OF FEAR: Mind Breach (downloadable through the Xbox Store) looks to offer a claustrophobic survival horror experience that rewards patience and careful decision-making.

Major Vex might be trained to deal with extraterrestrial incidents, but Cengona Base is clearly operating on a different level of unpleasant. If you’re heading underground, make sure you’ve got enough supplies, keep an eye on the shadows and perhaps think twice before investigating that strange noise.
