Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey creator wants to make a sequel

Despite mixed scores across the board, Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey director, Patrice Désilets, has vowed to make a sequel to the survival evolution game.

During a talk with Eurogamer at a recent 1666: Amsterdam event, Désilets asserts that the 2019 Private Division-published game was “volume one” and that he wants to make a sequel, which can since he does own the IP.

“Yeah. I will. I will. And people can believe me because I’m ready to wait 16 f**king years to finish what I started [with 1666: Amsterdam]; I finish what I started.”

The game itself was very mixed, with the overall concept an interesting one — charting the evolution of humanity packaged with third-person survival gameplay. Unfortunately, many found the gameplay and execution of the idea not too appealing.

Now, to be clear, it’ll probably be a while before we actually see a sequel to Ancestors, as Désilets and his studio, Panache Digital Games, is busy working on its self-published early access game, 1666: Amsterdam, which isn’t even halfway done.
