A year and a half after debuting in early access, RuneScape: Dragonwilds finally launched in its full, undiluted 1.0 glory. Jagex called this release a “momentous occasion” for the survival RPG as it flies into the next chapter of its existence.
“Today marks the start of our next journey,” the developers said. “Thank you to the millions (yes, millions!) of you who joined us during early access. We’re now live on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on Epic Games Store, Jagex Launcher, and Steam.”
This release coincides with a launch-day patch, primarily designed to bring support to the aforementioned consoles and add crossplay options. Other fun additions include the Scorned Wilderness region, an endgame boss called Kuldra the God-Eater (“Big Momma herself,” Jagex said), several new enemy types, lots of additional gear, the wand weapon type (“a more mobile, fast-paced way to deal more damage at a comparatively lower damage output”), a home teleport spell, “significant changes” to the building system, and plenty of bug fixes.
“This is not the end of RuneScape Dragonwilds. A new chapter begins with this release, and the start of an ambitious, multi-year journey into Ashenfall and its secrets. This winter, we’ll be shipping Luminance, our next content update, which will bring a new building kit and so much more alongside it. And as for changes to combat on the horizon? Well, let’s just say… Magic rocks. Literally,” the studio said.
