Terminus: Zombie Survivors is getting a sequel, with Longplay Studios revealing Terminus: Zombie Survivors 2 for PC.

The follow-up takes the roguelike survival series into a fully explorable open world, expanding considerably on the systems found in the original game. That first outing has now sold more than 150,000 copies on Steam.

Terminus: Zombie Survivors 2 revealed with open-world survival, co-op

This time around, simply avoiding the undead will only be part of the problem. Players will need to scavenge and cook food, maintain fires through rain, snow and freezing temperatures, and contend with darkness where a flashlight may be the only warning that something unpleasant is nearby.

Abandoned buildings can be searched for useful supplies, with players able to loot shelves, cupboards and anything else that might contain something worth salvaging. Crafting and building also return as survivors attempt to make use of whatever remains after society’s collapse.

Terminus: Zombie Survivors 2 goes open world

Rather than keeping players confined to smaller areas, Terminus: Zombie Survivors 2 features a town and the surrounding countryside to explore.

Motels, diners, petrol stations, supermarkets, churches and hospitals will all be accessible, alongside forests, roads and more isolated locations outside the town centre. Each area can contain resources, threats and environmental details revealing what happened to the people who lived there before the outbreak.

Zombies will vary considerably too. Players might encounter a single shambling corpse lurking inside a building, groups filling the streets or considerably larger creatures that have apparently moved well beyond the traditional zombie template.

The entire game can be played solo, while online co-op will allow groups of survivors to tackle the apocalypse together.

“For the sequel, we went deeper into survival itself: what it actually takes to stay fed, warm, and alive when the world is gone. Every system in the game is designed to make that struggle matter,” lead developer Shin In-geon said.

Terminus: Zombie Survivors 2 is currently in development for PC and will be released through Steam. No release date has yet been announced.

The game will support English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German and French.
